ER316L is very similar to type ER316 but has a carbon content held to a max of .03% to avoid carbide precipitation and preserve intergranular corrosion resistant properties.

APPLICATIONS

XTR 316L is an extra low carbon 19 Cr/ 12 Ni/ 3 Mo type stainless steel solid wire. Suitable for the welding or surfacing low carbon molybdenum bearing austenitic alloys. The weld metal has excellent creep strength up to 1,562°F. Ferrite controlled between 5 to 10%. The weld metal has excellent crack resistance, intergranular corrosion, and creep resistance properties. Excellent mechanical properties and resistance to chemical corrosion. 316L can also be used in cryogenic application, having service as low as -450°F.
